How to read exponential expressions, e.g., “2^16”?

 

우리말로 하면.. 2의 16승.. 이런건데 갑자기 궁금하다.

 

Very formal speech

- "two to the sixteenth power"

- "two to the power of sixteen"

 

그런데 일반적으로는

 

two to the sixteenth 라고 하기도 하고 그냥

two to the sixteen 이라고 하기도 한댄다.

one half, two thirds - 3 이상이면 복수형으로 읽는다.

2/3 : two thirds / two over three

3/4 : three quarters / three over four

4/5 : four fifths / four over five

 

거듭제곱 : Power / 지수 : exponent

 

1+2+3 // one plus two plus three

(-4) * 5.6 / 7 - negative 4 times 5 point 6 divided by 7

 

e^x : "e to the x" is very commor / e raised to the power x / e to the power x
